Effects of diaphragmatic and iliopsoas myofascial release in patients with chronic low back pain
A study from Medipol University of Health Sciences Institute, Turkey investigated the effects of diaphragmatic and iliopsoas myofascial release (MFR) techniques on pain, lumbar spine range of motion (ROM), chest wall mobility, and flexibility in patients with chronic low back pain. A randomized controlled clinical study was conducted with 42 participants aged between 20 and 50 years. Half received MFR, while the other half received a placebo MFR.
The results showed that the MFR techniques significantly reduced pain and increased lumbar spine ROM, flexibility, and chest wall mobility compared to placebo group.
The study suggests that diaphragmatic and iliopsoas MFR techniques can be an effective complementary therapy for patients with chronic low back pain.
